Government Encourages Classrooms to Go Digital

The Maharashtra State Government, through its web portal, recently published a report on digital education. A thorough reading of the report makes it clear that the intention of the government was to encourage schools to begin the use of digital technologies and devices in the classrooms.
Some of the points cited in the report were that: (1) In terms of hardware, around 70% of schools did not have projectors or cameras in their classrooms; (2) In terms of software, around 80% schools had not incorporated the use of apps and websites to enhance student learning and comprehension; (3) In terms of teaching techniques, around 60% of teachers were not open to the idea of incorporating digital technologies and devices in the learning environment.
Considering that in certain cases, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, digital classrooms would be enormously beneficial as well as the sole solution, it is high time that major changes are made to the current scenario.
